URUGUAY IS RAPIDLY ESTABLISHING ITSELF AS A LOGISTICS AND INNOVATION HUB IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY

This development was highlighted at the “Uruguay Best Practices in Pharma Supply Chain” event, which was declared of National Interest. The event gathered 300 experts to emphasize public-private collaboration and the use of advanced technology to optimize the pharmaceutical supply chain (Bollore Logistics).

The pharmaceutical industry in Uruguay handles nearly USD 900 million in products, employing approximately 7,500 people. This growth has been facilitated by the country’s political stability, robust infrastructure, and policies supporting innovation and foreign investment (Bollore Logistics).

Additionally, Uruguay offers suitable guarantees for foreign investors and an attractive legal and tax regime, making it an ideal place to develop logistics hubs and distribution centers in the region. Although costs can be relatively high compared to other countries in the region, the advantages in terms of legal security and financial stability offset this difference (S-GE).

Uruguay’s strategic location in Latin America, combined with its modern infrastructure and focus on technology and innovation, positions it as an emerging leader in pharmaceutical logistics. Global companies are leveraging these advantages to establish logistics operations in the country, using Uruguay as a platform to distribute products throughout the region (S-GE).
