Participation in the 11th Biennial IBA Global Immigration Conference – London

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the 11th Biennial IBA Global Immigration Conference in London, an event that brought together leading professionals and experts in immigration law from around the world.

We would like to extend our special thanks to hosts Nicolas Rollason, Poorvi Chothani, Esq., and Julia Onslow-Cole for their excellent organizational work and for creating such a productive space for the exchange of ideas and experiences.

During the conference, highly relevant topics were discussed at a particularly complex time for global mobility. The challenges we will face in 2025 are shaped by a volatile international political and economic environment. In particular, the discussions addressed:

Potential legislative changes in the United States following the presidential elections, which could redefine immigration policies for both skilled workers and asylum seekers.
Immigration reforms in Europe, driven by internal political tensions and the pressures of global migration movements. The rise of nationalist positions in some countries and the complexities of Schengen agreements represent a significant challenge.

The impact of the global geopolitical context, with humanitarian crises and conflicts in regions such as the Middle East and Africa, generating unprecedented migratory flows and raising questions about the responses of host nations.

New strategies for international labor mobility, in a world where AI, digitalization, remote work, and global competition for talent are transforming immigration systems and visa policies.

The need for innovative and flexible legal solutions has never been more pressing. Adapting to this evolving landscape will be crucial to providing our clients with effective and strategic responses on immigration matters.

In addition to the formal sessions, the conference was an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties with colleagues, partners, and friends in the sector, exchange experiences, and reflect together on the trends that will shape the future of global immigration law.

From our firm, we reaffirm our commitment to continue working on practical and up-to-date solutions for our clients in an increasingly complex and challenging context.

Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible, and we look forward to seeing you at the next edition.
